CO2 Laser

What is CO2 laser treatment?

CO2  ablative laser treatment with AcuPulse resurfaces the skin anywhere on the body to restore elasticity and improve tone and texture. The technology works most effectively on lighter skin types.

You benefit from the reduced appearance of scarring, including acne scars and scars from trauma. In addition, the treatment can reduce pigment irregularities, vascular lesions, and rough texture.

What are the benefits of CO2 laser treatments?

CO2 laser treatments offer a deeper treatment compared to nonablative treatments. You see results in as little as 2-4 weeks following a session. And only one session is needed to achieve a change in your complexion with touch-up treatments recommended every 6-12 months.

In the case of severe scarring, you may need more than one treatment, however. Dr. Cellucci evaluates your complexion to create a customized plan so you know what results to expect.

Are CO2 laser treatments painful?

Laser treatments can cause some discomfort. Each treatment lasts 15-60 minutes, depending on the areas treated.

The team at Jeuvani Spa and Sculpting ask clients to arrive 30 minutes prior to a session so they can apply an anesthetic agent to reduce sensation and make the procedure more tolerable. You may also take over-the-counter pain medication prior to treatment to assist in reducing pain.

How should I prepare for CO2 laser treatments?

You’ll need to avoid all tanning and stop using Retin-A products two weeks before and after treatment. Accutane treatments must be stopped for six months prior to a CO2 laser session. Any surgical or traumatic scars must be at least two months old to be eligible for laser treatment. Acne scars can be of any age, but you must delay treatment if you have active whiteheads.

What should I expect after a CO2 laser treatment?

Recovery from laser treatment takes several days. You’ll have some swelling, redness, and skin weeping for about 1-3 days after a session. Redness can persist for as long as five days. We offer Oxygenetix® skin products which include foundation and may dramatically decrease the number of days that you need to heal and improves appearance post-treatment.

Wash your face thoroughly four times a day for the first 3-5 days following your treatment. You’ll also need to be extra careful to avoid any sun exposure as your skin is quite sensitive for several days. Wear a wide-brimmed hat and scarf around your face if you’re outside, and stay in the shade to keep yourself protected from the sun. It is imperative that you keep your skin moist at all times via the application of a good petroleum which may include Vaseline, Aquaphor or antibiotic ointment.
