What is Botox?

Botox is a purified toxin that halts the muscle activity that causes lines and wrinkles to form when you smile or squint. The results effectively treat horizontal forehead furrows, frown lines between the brows, and the creases around the eyes. The injectable is FDA approved and proven effective and safe in multiple studies.

What are dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers boost hydration and volume in aging skin. At Jeuvani Spa and Sculpting, the team offers Allergan and Merz products, including Juvéderm and Radiesse®, that use hyaluronic acid, a natural compound your skin produces in large amounts in your youth. As you age, your body’s production of hyaluronic acid slows, and you start to lose volume in areas such as your cheeks and the folds between the nose and the corner of the mouth.

Other areas that benefit from dermal filler injections include:

• Marionette lines around the lips
• Lost volume in the lips

How long do the effects of Botox and dermal fillers last?

Botox results last three to four months. Most dermal fillers provide positive wrinkle-reduction and volume changes for about nine months to two years, depending on the product. Do the injections of Botox and dermal fillers hurt?

You’ll notice a pinch during the injections as the needle enters your skin, but most people tolerate the treatment quite well. You are welcome to come to Jeuvani Spa approximately 30 minutes before your dermal filler injection for topical anesthetic if you prefer, thus making the injections more tolerable. Juvéderm products contain lidocaine, a numbing agent, to make the injections more comfortable.

Do I need to schedule downtime following treatment with Botox or dermal fillers?

No. You can go back to all your daily activities following dermal filler and Botox injections. You’ll notice the results of dermal fillers immediately, but Botox takes about 48 hours to take effect. There may be some mild bruising at the injection site. This is to be expected whenever the skin is injected.
